Prof. Baryamureeba is a jerk of all trades he is an accomplished Chief Executive Officer is who practices politics and entrepreneurship. He is one person who undertands the contributions of both the public and private sector institutions in the socio-economic development of Uganda.

Prof. Baryamureeba is a distinguished academic, researcher, leader, and manager as attested by the several awards won at both national and international levels. Baryamureeba is a true nationalist who has the needs of his country at heart and hopes as part of his service to both the public and private sectors will positively contribute to the advancement of Uganda into a middle income country and later a developed country.

Professor Venansius Baryamureeba is a Professor of Computer Science and holds a B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science among other qualifications. He began his working career at Makerere University where he served as Director and Dean. As Director and Dean he spearheaded the transformation of the small Institute of Computer Science and the Faculty of Computing and IT and by 2009 it was the largest computing faculty in the world. As Vice Chancellor of Makerere University he transformed the University into a collegiate University with large federated colleges. In the three years he was Vice Chancellor, Makerere University experienced tremendous reforms and transformations and was ranked the 4th best University in Africa for the first time in its history.

In September 2012 Prof. Baryamureeba became the founding Vice Chancellor of Uganda Technology And Management University (UTAMU). In just a space of less than three years, UTAMU is a household name in Uganda and the University is building regional and international partnerships. He is one of the proprietors of UTAMU.

Professor Baryamureeba is also currently the Chairperson of Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Innovation Council; Chairperson of Uganda Vice Chancellors Forum; Chairperson of Makerere University Business School Council; Chairperson of Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board; a member of Senate for both Mbarara University of Science and Technology and Busitema University and a member of the Presidential Investors Round Table – a business advisory council to the President of the Republic of Uganda among others. He previously served as the Chairperson of the Research and Education Network of Uganda (2009-2014); the Chairperson of the Inter-University Council of East Africa (2009-2010), a body that brings together all universities in the East African Community; and a member of the National Council for Higher Education (2009-2012), a body that regulates and oversees higher education in Uganda.

He is the founding Chairman and Managing Director of ICT Consults Ltd (www.ict.co.ug), a reputable ICT consultancy firm on the African continent and he has distinguished himself a consultant both in ICT and Higher Education.
